Saturday’s jam was originally intended to let newcomers to parkour get their feet wet. Oddly enough, there were no new faces. Hopefully next time we’ll see all you “newbies” show up, eager to learn. :)

We Have An Air Date!

It’s confirmed. The air date for Fox 13’s piece on SLCPK will air Monday, May 7th at 9pm.

The piece will be promoted during the 11am show, as well as during commercial breaks throughout the day. Then during the 9pm show, there will be two full-length pieces of what was filmed at our jam. One piece will air around 9:15, and the other will air around 9:45.

If you miss it for whatever reason, I’m told we will be able to download a copy of the piece from Fox 13’s website.

Keep your eyes open!

Fox 13 - The Aftermath

The jam has come and gone, and it was great! We had a great turnout (most likely due to the big expensive news camera ). There was a two-hour run around the campus, followed by some stellar interviews, with some tutorials for rolls and kong vaults filmed at the end. Some folks arrived a little late, but you have to try really hard to not find the group.

Fox News Requests Interviews

The local Fox News affiliate is planning to do a story on Utah’s parkour community. We’ve arranged a jam for Saturday, April 28th at 10 AM. We’ll meet in the parking lot of the Ray Olpin Student Union building at the University of Utah.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up with what’s happening in the community.

And the forum changes.  It seems that the upgrade to the forum software (our old software was years out of date) invited a bunch of spam bots to crawl in and create spam accounts.  It got to the point where I was banning spam accounts and locking threads every day.  To help the situation, I configured new user registration to be approved by me personally before the account was allowed to do anything on the forums.  Even that was a little tricky, because I had no real way of identifying the spam accounts when they came into my inbox for moderation.  I pretty much just had to guess.
